Statement of Need
The American Academy of Dermatology bases its CME activities on identified professional practice gaps, the educational needs which underlie these gaps, and emerging clinical research findings as these relate to dermatology. Learners should reflect upon clinical and scientific information presented in this CME activity and determine the need for further study.

Learning Objectives
Following participation in this activity, the learner should be able to:

  • Identify different types of dermatological wounds and an approach to differentiating between them 
  • Discuss optimal wound assessment and new technologies that can be used for assessments.
  • Recognize the key characteristics of different dressings and compression therapies available for management of wounds.
  • Distinguish advanced wound care technologies and therapies that help dermatologists in their practice.
  • Identify a practical approach to wound care for dermatologists
