Statement of Need
The American Academy of Dermatology bases its CME activities on identified professional practice gaps, the educational needs which underlie these gaps, and emerging clinical research findings as these relate to dermatology. Learners should reflect upon clinical and scientific information presented in this CME activity and determine the need for further study.

Learning Objectives
Following participation in this activity, the learner should be able to:

• Recognize the appropriate type of topical, cryosurgery, photodynamic, or combination treatment based on individual patient characteristics.
• Identify the appropriate background assessments needed before starting topical, cryosurgery, photodynamic, or combination therapy for adult actinic keratosis.
• Recognize the possible risks associated with topical, cryosurgery, photodynamic, or combination therapy for adult actinic keratosis and how to reduce it.
• Identify performance indicators, associated tools, and resources that aid in the assessment and improvement of the quality of addressing topical, cryosurgery, photodynamic, or combination therapy.
• Recognize known gaps and barriers for patient adherence to topical, cryosurgery, photodynamic, or combination therapy for the treatment of adult actinic keratosis
• Name roles the dermatologist can play in improving patient adherence to topical, cryosurgery, photodynamic, or combination therapy.
• Identify quality tools that aid in the assessment and improvement of the quality of addressing topical, cryosurgery, photodynamic, or combination therapy.
• Be aware of the benefits of UV protection in adult patients with actinic keratosis or who may be at risk of developing actinic keratosis.
