Statement of Need
The American Academy of Dermatology bases its CME activities on identified professional practice gaps, the educational needs which underlie these gaps, and emerging clinical research findings as these relate to dermatology. Learners should reflect upon clinical and scientific information presented in this CME activity and determine the need for further study.
Learning Objectives
Following participation in this activity, the learner should be able to:
- Recognize the appropriate type of phototherapy treatment based on individual patient characteristics.
- Identify the types of phototherapies that are currently not supported by evidence for the treatment of psoriasis.
- Identify the appropriate background assessments needed before starting phototherapy treatment
- Recognize the possible risks associated with phototherapy and how to reduce the risk in patients.
- Identify performance indicators, associated tools, and resources which aid in the assessment and improvement of the quality of addressing phototherapy in psoriasis patients.
